2024 at a Glance: an LA Phil Commission + Shopping with Godzilla, Copland’s Dentures, and Self-Made Cartoons

Hi everyone,

I hope the title drew you in! A lot has happened this year in my exploration as a composer and artist. I have so much to share but promise to keep it brief. Please read on if you’d like a chronological summary about what I’ve been doing in 2024 – or, you can skip to the end where I talk about my upcoming LA Phil commission for a chamber concert happening in November!

More news soon...!

Hi all,

I obviously haven’t posted in a while. (Wow, it’s been three years? Really?) However, I will soon!

In the meantime, google information on me with the Raleigh Symphony Orchestra (upcoming concert on March 9th, 2022), Sploopy as performed by Alarm Will Sound (2021), “HOCKET joined the meeting” by amazing piano duo Hocket for their album “What 2020 Sounds Like”(2022), Bantam Winds as performed by the Arkansas-based Bantam Winds (2021), and Nütoots, an upcoming album by Kenken Gorder (2022).

Oh yes, and I also got an ASCAP Honorable Mention for the 2021 Morton Gould Young Composer’s Competition, which I probably need to put on my awards list…

There’s even more than that, but that will have to do for now!

Also, the workshop performance of my opera is up on the Mirror Game page (has been up for a few years now.) I haven’t been able to do more with it because of that whole pandemic thing, but hey if you’ve been wanting to check it out, it’s there!

Best wishes,

Celka
